PrattjnrKwesi Pratt, Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, says Ghanaians are suffering under the Akufo-Addo government.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’, Kwesi Pratt wondered why leaders of the nation are toying with the lives of Ghanaians by playing politics with the economy.

The downward spiral of the cedi against the U.S. dollar and other major currencies, as well as the prevailing harsh economic environment, has been a source of bother to the general public, most especially business operators.

The local currency has neared the GHS5: US$1 mark.

The frequent increase in the price of fuel has also worsened the situation

Commenting on the recent hikes in fuel prices, the seasoned journalist asked why the leaders and socio-economic commentators instead of addressing the plight of the citizenry, rather go about trading in terminologies and using jargons to confuse Ghanaians.

Terms like “GDP percentage, debt ratio and so forth”; he wondered if such would bring bread and butter to the table.

He therefore called on the government to address concerns of Ghanaians on the fuel price increment and cedi depreciation among others by fixing the economy, saying “we’re suffering. The President has admitted that we’re suffering. So, where from the percentage of GDP, debt ratio and so forth; it’s all not taking us forward but we keep retrogressing? That is the point! So, these things we say don’t help anyone. It doesn’t help the government. It doesn’t help opposition. It helps nobody”.
