Celebrated sports journalist with Multimedia Group Limited, Gary Al-Smith, who has revealed that he has COVID-19, and is currently receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre(UGMC), has cursed a man who said that he (Gary)had lied about his seat and was engaged in propaganda at the health facility.

“U went there for propaganda mission. We know u already. U are not sick,” Yao Adu Asamoah wrote as a reply to Gary Al-Smith’s post lamenting lapses in the handling of COVID-19 at his facility.

“U went there for propaganda mission. We know u already. U are not sick,” Yao Adu Asamoah wrote as a reply to Gary Al-Smith’s post lamenting lapses in the handling of COVID-19 at his facility.

But Gary Al-Smith hit back saying: “Yao, I am not sick and faking it, may COVID-19 kill me.

If I am sick and not faking it, may you be affected by COVID-19 and may it teach you a lesson. Amen.”

Gary Al-Smith’s disclosure of his status has been well-received as a way of dealing with stigmatization and helping in containing the virus in the country.

But he has come under intense criticism from some quarters for exposing lapses in Ghana’s COVID-19 cases.

Last week, the journalist confirmed  he was  among 5 staff of the company to have been tested positive for COVID-19 has opened up

The Multimedia Group has said five of its staff have tested positive for the deadly pandemic.

According to management, it has started contact tracing to ensure that other members of the team are safe.

Gary  said he and his family have decided to use this as an opportunity to educate Ghanaians on the disease as a way of battling the stigmatization problem in the country.

He indicated that he’s doing very well and was thankful for the support he has received ever since he tested positive.
