Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that 219 people have pledged to contribute GHC1000 to support the payment of former president John Mahama’s filing fee.

On Thursday, November 29, 2018, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) announced that it had pegged the filing fee for aspiring flagbearers at GHC400,000.

It further added that the nomination forms cost GHC20,000. However, the party indicated that it has fixed the filing fee for aspiring flagbearers with disabilities at GHC200,000.

Following the announcement, a group MPs4Mahama, together with others, have pledged to pay GHC1000.00 to help raise the GHC420,000 for Mahama.

According to sources, the group intends to raise the full amount by Tuesday, December 4, 2018.

However, the immediate-past Ashaiman constituency chairman of the NDC, Shaddad Umar Jallo, has also promised to pay half of the GHC400,000 filing fee for Mahama.

Furthermore, a group of spare parts dealers at Abossey Okai have also pledged to pay half of the amount for Mahama.

The NDC is scheduled to hold its presidential primary on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
